How do I know if a photographer's style matches my wedding

Examine full wedding galleries, not single images

A photographer's best 20 images don't show you their actual output. Ask to see complete weddings from start to finish. Notice whether they capture the moments you care about: details, reactions, movement, or posed portraits. Pay attention to consistency across different weddings, not just the showpiece shots.

Check if their editing matches your preferences

Do you prefer warm tones or cool tones? Bright and airy or moody and contrasty? Heavy editing or natural processing? A photographer's color grading is their signature. If you dislike how they edit one wedding, you'll likely dislike how they edit yours. Look at 3-4 complete galleries to see if the style remains consistent.

Watch how they handle different lighting situations

An outdoor daytime wedding looks easy. See how they shoot in dim churches, during evening receptions, or on overcast days. If most of their portfolio is golden-hour outdoor light, ask how they handle indoor ceremonies or weather challenges your wedding might face.
