Define what the fee actually covers

Be specific about hours of coverage, number of photographers, and what happens if the wedding runs long. Clarify whether travel time to the venue is included or charged separately. State the deliverables: how many edited images, when you'll receive them, and in what format. Don't assume anything.

Address payment terms and cancellation

Include the deposit amount, when final payment is due, and whether it's refundable if you cancel. Specify what happens if the photographer cancels. If you have payment plans, spell out the exact dates and amounts. Include late payment fees if relevant.

Clarify image rights and usage

Does the photographer retain copyright or do you own the images? Can you print, share on social media, or use for commercial purposes? Can they use your images in their portfolio or advertising? Can they post images on social media before you do? These details prevent disputes later.
